What are the buckles on backpacks called?

Buckle is one of the commonly used accessories in backpack customization, most of them have a function of adjust the length of the straps. Buckle according to its shape, function is different, and there are different names, like release buckle(can be divided into side and front release), D ring, ladder lock, slider, hook, cord stopper, cord zipper pull,etc. According to different materials, it can be divided into plastic buckle (POM, PP, PA material), hardware buckle (Alloy, Semi-alloy, Iron). 

Here we will introduce some buckles that are common on backpacks, and how we called them.

1. Release buckle

One end of the release buckle is fixed with webbing, the other end can be adjusted by webbing, according to different needs and choose the length of the webbing, in order to adjust the range of activity of the buckle. The place where the webbing is hung behind the buckle is generally made of single bar or double bar. The single bar is not adjustable, and the double bar is adjustable. According to whether it is adjusted, it can be divided into single adjustment, double adjustment and no adjustment buckle. Release buckles are generally used to fix the shoulder strap, backpack or other external items on the backpack. which are mostly found in the shoulder strap, belt, and side circumference of the backpack.

2. Slider

Slider, also known as the tri-glide buckle, is a commonly used accessories on the backpack, is also one of the standard accessories on the backpack, mainly used to adjust the length of the webbing. In order to prevent slip, the middle bar of many sliders are designed with stripes.

3. Ladder lock

The function of the ladder buckle is to shrink the webbing, which is generally used at the end of the shoulder strap to adjust the fit of the backpack.
